Again this year, InCrowd surveyed nearly 100 life science market researchers to learn details about who they are and the market they serve. The 2017 Life Sciences Market Research—State of the Market Report shares insight into today’s life science market researcher, their priorities, perceptions, and challenges.

This blog covers insights from the demographic details respondents shared about who they are, with more findings in the infographic below.

Today’s life science market researchers are veteran professionals with deep expertise. Nearly 95% said they have more than 5 years of experience in their field. Additionally, the majority told us they have been with their current employer for 5 years or more.

They find their line of work rewarding because of the many challenges and learning opportunities provided by the healthcare industry (36%) and the ability to improve patients’ lives (29%).

They are a highly educated group, with 63% possessing a masters degree or higher.

In our survey, respondents were predominantly male (63%). Most are middle-aged, with about 71% saying they are 46 years or older. About 27% are in their 30s and low 40s. And a majority, about 83%, are married and have children.

The picture we gathered from the State of the Market Report of today’s life science market researchers remains that of an experienced, highly educated professional committed to their craft.
