Get Social With InCrowd

Social media has been an integral part of the healthcare industry in recent years. Whether it is to provide educational material, combat misinformation, or simply have a presence to connect with friends and colleagues, healthcare professionals have taken to social media in different ways. InCrowd recently surveyed 300 members including Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Pharmacists on current social media usage.

Usage by Platform

A majority of respondents are active on more than one platform, with Facebook and Instagram being the most popular followed by LinkedIn and Twitter.

Professional Usage

Do you use social media professionally? 47% of respondents currently do. Typically through their own clinic Facebook page, Facebook group, or professional usage on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter.

Interact with Patients on Social Media?

Of the 47% that said yes, 15% interact with patients online – typically through a clinic page to post relevant content and respond to comments and questions. Based on previous research into this space, the fact that health care providers want to keep their online presence separate from their patient interaction remains consistent.

In general, the respondents reported being most interested in interacting with social media that holds data driven research.

These findings provide useful insight into how and where healthcare professionals are using social media as well as what type of content is most beneficial to provide our members.
